Watermelon

Watermelon definetly makes me think summer thoughts!  When Glorious Treats posted some watermelon sugar cookies last week I was (salivating) inspired to make some of my own.  My good friend at work, (the art teacher), Jenn came over for a taste of my cookie madness.  I was excited to share my hobby with someone I knew would appreciate it, and be a natural.  Its so much more fun to decorate cookies with someone else.  So these are what we created.  I couldn't be more smitten with them.  :) 

Red White and Blue Stars

These I made purely for fun.  I haven't been doing enough of that lately.  It was nice to make some cookies with no pressure.  I got this idea from Bake 350, one of my favorite blogs.  Its my basic sugar cookie recipe divided into three portions and tinted with food coloring.  Since there is only a bit of royal icing detailing the top, I am able to keep some in the freezer to pull out whenever I need a little sugar snack.
