National Cherry Festival

My favorite city is Traverse City!  I was lucky enough to live there for a couple years after college.  Of course, you do need to like winter because there is a lot of it.  Every season is beautiful there.  And the water takes on a caribbean blue when the sun is shining high.  My sister is the lucky one now, she moved up there a month ago.  I'm going up to stay with her for a week during the Cherry Festival.  I'm bringing these cookies to snack on.

I shall call them.....blossom to bowl.  Because that's as clever as I can get right now.

These ones are a thank you gift for a friend.

I'm loving this bowl of cherries!

House Warming

OH, how I love doing these little houses!  And I could spend forever and a day doing them!  There are so many unique details that I "could" put into them.  But, I do have two little ones......  :)  that keep me busy too.

These are for my sister and her husband who are having a house warming party.  I am not able to go, so I'm sending some extra special cookies.

More Lollipop Sugar Cookies

I'm in love with how these look!  I had to make some more, just because.  ;)  I used a few more colors this time and had fun making different mixes.  I also sprinkled them with some rainbow disco dust.

So soft and sweet.

Red White and Blue too!  The white color really makes these look like the candy treat!

Lime green joins the party!

How about a bouquet of pastel cookie lollipops?

The brighter side!

A little bigger and bolder than the rest.

Superman colors!

Lollipop Sugar Cookies

This idea hit me at school today when a co-worker brought in some little lollipops to share.  I was going for the rainbow look, and I think I got pretty close.  I'm sure there are other great color combinations to play with.  I think these would make a great gift anytime.  All wrapped up in cellophane and tied with pretty ribbon.

I decided to take some step-by-step pictures for this cookie because it was so fun and easy to make.  I just knew you'd want to try them too!

Make some sugar cookie dough!  I use this recipe.  Tint the dough the colors of your choice.  I use Americolor food coloring.  You can find it at cake specialty stores, Hobby Lobby, and many places online.  I used Red Red, Electric Purple, Sky Blue, Electric Lime, and Lemon Yellow.  Knead the coloring into the dough.  Your hands will get colorful!

Pinch a piece off each color and stack them up.

Roll it out into a snake and then twist. If your dough is getting too soft you may want to consider putting it in the fridge for a little bit.

Create the lollipop coil.

Use an offset spatula to transfer to a parchment lined cookie sheet.  Sprinkle with some sugar and them put into the freezer for 5 minutes. The freezer will allow them to harden just enough to be able to insert the lollipop stick without deforming the perfect round shape.

Happy little lollipops ready to bake!

Let them cool and wrap them up!

Baptism

Here's some baptism cookies that I've done.  The ones for Chase were a while back and I just did the Jackson cookies this week.  This was a busy cookie week!  School was busy with me running field day, Ryan worked nights and I somehow squeezed in 3 cookie orders while taking care of the kiddos.  :)  Today my oven is taking a break.  :)  I'm working on some 4th of July holiday designs!  Look for those soon.  I'll be taking orders for 4th of July BBQ's.

Watermelon

Watermelon definetly makes me think summer thoughts!  When Glorious Treats posted some watermelon sugar cookies last week I was (salivating) inspired to make some of my own.  My good friend at work, (the art teacher), Jenn came over for a taste of my cookie madness.  I was excited to share my hobby with someone I knew would appreciate it, and be a natural.  Its so much more fun to decorate cookies with someone else.  So these are what we created.  I couldn't be more smitten with them.  :)
